If you are anything like me, your mind is running a million miles a minute right up until bedtime. Maybe even past bedtime. Between taking care of the house, my family, volunteer obligations, and the blog, I need some time to unwind each night, which is why I usually hide in my bathroom for a good while at the end of the day. I just need to unwind!
I’ve always tried to make getting ready for bed as relaxing as possible. For me, taking off my make up and washing my face signals my brain that it’s time to unwind and stop thinking about all the craziness of the day. Skin care is so important that I make sure to set aside at least 5 minutes every night to properly wash my face.
Here are my 3 tips for a relaxing night-time routine:
- Set a relaxing atmosphere by sprucing up or cleaning up your vanity area. I always feel calmer when things are neat and organized. Scratch that, not so much organized as pretty. I just like pretty things.
- Take at least 5 minutes to yourself each night to unwind by taking off your makeup and washing your face. I’m a big fan of using CeraVe. Every aesthetician I’ve ever used recommends it!
- Clear your mind while washing your face. Sing the Happy Birthday song at least twice to ensure you are washing long enough (roughly 2 minutes if you can). This is my favorite way to clear my mind and start relaxing for the night. No thinking allowed! Zone out while washing your face and you will automatically start relaxing for bed.
If you are a regular reader you probably remember when I worked with an aesthetician to come up with a budget friendly skin care routine. I’ve been using CeraVe regularly for a year because it replenishes the vital ceramides that healthy skin needs. Another reason I love it is because it’s fragrance free. Once you ditch fragrance, you can’t go back. It’s non-irritating and most of them are non-comedogenic.
I can’t unwind and relax if I walk into an unorganized bathroom. Nothing drives me crazier than not being able to find my face wash and everything else I need to get ready for bed. My stuff easily gets lost in the depths of the bathroom drawers if I’m not careful.
To overcome this issue, I’ve put together a faux marble vanity tray that cost less than $6. Just looking at my bathroom counter relaxes me now. I actually enjoy walking into the bathroom.
Doesn’t it make the bathroom look fancy?
All you need to do is cut out foam board in the correct dimensions of your vanity tray,
then cover it with faux marble contact paper. So. Easy. Right?
Use mason jars to corral your cotton swaps and cotton balls, and you’re done.
Now that you know how much I love CeraVe, you can get in on the action too! They are on rollback at Walmart until 5/9/2016. The Hydrating Cleanser, Foaming Facial Cleanser, and Moisturizing Cream are all $9.97 until then. Find them in the skin care aisle.
But wait, there’s more! You can also get a $2 off coupon for each product. Click here to get the coupon and learn more about the importance of ceramides. You can also learn more by visiting CeraVe on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. How do you relax before bed?
