Happy weekend! It’s not often that I get a post in on a Saturday morning. I usually like to post things like this on Fridays, but life has been crazy lately. I knew life with two young kids was going to be busy, however I had no idea they would keep me this busy.
I have a few fun things to share with you today. The first thing I can’t wait to tell you is that we are going to India!
I’ve spent my entire life dreaming of traveling. In the span of two years in high school I went to Honduras, Fiji, Australia, and Hawaii. That is when I caught the travel bug. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time or money to travel much since then.
Tons of people tell you to travel while you are young, they say to spend the money or take on debt to travel. Part of me thought my travel days were over now that I’ve hit 30. It’s just the opposite! My traveling days are just ahead of me. Tom and I are this close to being free of all our high interest debt. Because of that we are finally able to afford to travel the world. I am so happy that we will be able to celebrate the end of Tom’s law school debt with this trip to India. I’m glad we didn’t take on more debt to travel when we were younger. It’s going to feel so good to go on a trip and not worry about money.
To make it even better, the trip is going to be ridiculously cheap. The round trip tickets were a steal! This is the screenshot from our purchase (per roundtrip ticket).
I keep pinching myself because it doesn’t even seem real. We’ve got a while though! We won’t be going until next year. Still, I’m already having a blast planning the trip. Any tips?
This week has been pretty good for me. I only spent a little over $100 on groceries.
I stocked up on some fun patriotic party supplies at the Target Dollar Spot. I got all of this for $9!
And I got some great deals on toys at a consignment shop. I picked up these Duplos and Legos for $25. I’ll either save them for Christmas or pull them out for quiet time when Robert stops napping.
My side hustle (blogging) is growing fast. Thank you for being part of it! Now that I’m making more money from it and getting more jobs, it’s getting to be more time consuming than I had anticipated. I’m able to afford a babysitter once a week now. I’m so excited to have a little extra time to myself to work. This was my set up on Tuesday. So. Nice.
Hiring a sitter is giving me more time to do the things I love with the kids. We’ve been going for nature scavenger hunts most mornings. I love that Robert will play “I spy with my little eye” with me. Here he is checking out the bunnies on the nature trail.
I hate that I got out of the habit of reviewing wines here. I really should get back into that! My latest favorite mid-range wine is the Hob Nob red blend. I bought it for ~$10 at Total Wine. It was deliciously full bodied.
Speaking of drinking, I’ve got to share this picture from The Kentucky Derby.
These mint juleps were so strong and sweet that I could only handle one and a half/ two-ish. I am trying to get into cocktails and liquor but it’s a slow transition from beer and wine.
That sums up what we’ve been up to lately. Happy weekend!
