You like the title don’t you?
I knew you would.
I’m currently headed to Disney World. Woo hoo! I’m taking a group of kids from my church for a retreat. Stay tuned for my tips on planning a youth trip to Disney on a budget. I’ve got all sorts of tips after planning this one.
This week hasn’t been the best for spending. I may have had a little too much fun buying this kid all the costumes. And I mean all. the. costumes.
I found out that one of my favorite consignment stores has Halloween costumes for dirt cheap. Most of them are used, which is fine by me. If you read this post, you know that I love used clothing, especially for my kids. Check him out modeling his Kylo Ren Halloween costume. I ended up buying it from Costco since I couldn’t find it cheaper anywhere else.
The week has been a little stressful for me. My mom’s car broke down and the engine needs to be replaced. Since the engine costs a little less than the value of the car, it’s basically totaled. Remember when I said we had a third car sitting around waiting to be sold? Well, we decided to owner finance it for my mom. I guess this means I’m not actually as stingy as I felt in this post last week.
Could this put us behind on our schedule to pay off Tom’s loans by 2017? Possibly. But family is important. It seemed ridiculous for us to have 3 cars and my mom, sister and brother to have none. This means I have lots of material to write a post about dealing with money and family.
The crazy part of this is that it stressed me out. I’m not even the one who was car-less. I can’t imagine how stressed out my mom was this week. Car troubles really do make life miserable.
Finally, I want to share with you something I’ve learned this week and I hope to write more about soon: I’m tired of buying crap.I'm tired of buying crap. #minimalism #buylesssavemore Click To Tweet
This week I found a great deal on frames at Target. They are currently clearing our all their departments to make room for Christmas products, and I got this great deal on 8×10 frames. I love them, but don’t need them.
Okay, sure I kind of need them because we don’t have anything on our wall in the living room, but currently they are sitting in my bedroom waiting to be filled. It’s making me nervous. I don’t want them sitting around. I almost wish I’d waited and bought them full priced later. Living a minimalist lifestyle has made it impossible for me to have things in my house that aren’t useful. I’m sure I’ll find something perfect to fill them soon, but in the meantime they are driving me crazy just sitting there. I don’t want to hide them in the garage because I want to be reminded daily to put them to use!
It sure does feel good to get that off my chest. Maybe now I’ll actually fill these frames.
As for food waste, I threw away a tomato and an avocado that had rotted on my counter. How does that happen? I bought them both on a Sunday and found the tomato leaking juices on Tuesday. So. Gross. BTW- you know not to ever refrigerate tomatoes, right? Then again, mine might have had a fighting chance if I’d done just that.
Enjoy your weekend! I’ll be loving life with Mickey Mouse!
How did you do on spending and food waste this week?
