As we approach Halloween I’m looking for ways to keep my fall pumpkins looking good into November. Planting succulents in pumpkins is a fun way to keep pumpkins around without them looking too much like they are leftover from Halloween.
Not only are these perfect for fall decor, but they make great gifts too! Robert and I just made them for my mom for her birthday. I think these would be perfect for a hostess gift as well.
Seriously, wouldn’t this be a fun gift?
I love that this is a super cheap way to add plants to my house. The package of 6 succulents is only $9 at Walmart, and these pie pumpkins were less than $2 at Trader Joe’s.
Once the pumpkins start to get mushy, just take those succulents out and replant them somewhere else.
This obviously isn’t an original Eat, Drink, and Save Money idea, but I still wanted to share it with you to show you how affordable it is. I buy pumpkins every fall, and this is a great way to extend the life. Especially here in Florida since they seem to rot as soon as you carve them!
