Have you ever had a hard time sleeping? If so, you know how miserable it can feel. Before you decide to spend money on sleeping pills, make sure to read this information. I’ve been there too, and I know it’s not a good feeling.
When I was in college, I had the hardest time falling asleep. I’d always been able to fall asleep easily until then. At the time I was convinced I had insomnia. Absolutely convinced.
I called my dad, a doctor, and told him about my sleep troubles. I whined and complained and half expected him to offer me a prescription for a sleeping pill.
Instead of giving me a prescription for medicine, my dad asked me about my habits. When I told him I was drinking coffee at all hours of the night, he immediately told me to stop.
He told me to cut out caffeine after noon, eat an apple when I needed energy, and to exercise more.
Two days of following his advice and I was sleeping like a baby.
Almost 10 years later and I still have very little trouble falling asleep at night. The only nights where I do have issues are the ones where I drink caffeine too late, don’t exercise, and don’t eat well.
When people tell me they have a hard time sleeping, I always give them this advice: cut down your caffeine, exercise more, and eat well.
Obviously I’m not a doctor and I’m not qualifiedand everyone has different issues. What worked for me, may not work for you (although I definitely recommend trying my advice). That’s why I’ve teamed up with the National Sleep Foundation to help you figure out the answer to your sleep problems.
