Happy Friday! Time for another week in review post.
This week has been pretty great. Y’all know that Tom and I have lived very frugally for the last 7 years, right? Now that his loans are paid off and he got a little raise and bonus, we can finally afford to furnish our house. Finally.
One thing I’ve learned about life since living frugally is that your home really is what you make it. Our house may not have looked warm and cozy to outsiders because it’s been so bare, but it never really mattered to me. Our home has been special just because we make memories like this in it every single day.
All that being said, our family home has still been lacking a comfortable living room. Our tiny couch (pictured above) and two chairs just weren’t cutting it for family cuddles. Tom and I ended up watching TV in bed every night instead of spending time in our living room. That’s why we splurged this weekend and bought this amazing couch from Matter Brothers:
What do you think? I’d say it’s midrange in price. It wasn’t as expensive as Pottery Barn (even though it’s way more comfy), but it’s a lot more than the furniture from inexpensive places like Rooms to Go. Overall, I think we did well. We shopped around over Thanksgiving, thought about it for a few months, and finally made our decision to buy over the weekend.
It feels really good to know that all of our saving for all these years has paid off, and now we can afford to buy nice things here and there.
Our decor is still a little lacking. After being forced to be a minimalist for so many years, it’s hard to start buying things again. I’m used to having no knick knacks and nothing on the walls now. Less is better. At least for me.
Even though I still pride myself on living on less, there are still a few goodies I want to share with you.
This week I got the chance to try out a couple fun products.
The first one is a Harry’s shaving set.
I got the Truman set that sells for $15. I’m in love. With the price. The style. Everything. There is no specific men’s set or women’s set. A razor is a razor and it works well on a face or legs. I’ve been using my husbands razors for years because they are way cheaper than women’s razors. Now I have my own set. Yay!
The next thing I reviewed this week was Halo Top Creamery Ice Cream. Y’all, this stuff is amazing. Halo Top is high in protein and low in fat. The birthday cake flavor only has 280 calories for the entire pint!
I’d say it was a pretty good week, right? Couch, razors, and ice cream. Not too shabby! Happy Friday!
