This post about National Learn to Swim Day was sponsored by SwimWays as part of an Ambassador Program for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.
National Learn to Swim Day is the third Saturday of May every year. Make the day exciting this year, May 20th 2017, with your little ones by doing some of these fun activities.
SwimWays started National Learn to Swim Day in 2012 to educate parents and children about water safety and the importance and benefits of learning to swim. SwimWays encourages parents and caregivers nationwide to celebrate in their own way. Here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate National Learn to Swim Day.
1. Get in the Pool
This is the easiest part! Head to your local pool and swim. Pools around the nation start opening up in May, so it’s the perfect time to try out your local facilities.
If your kids don’t know how to swim yet, consider getting them a fun float so they can get accustomed to the water. Both of our boys had SwimWays Baby Spring Floats to help them get used to the water before they could swim. It was convenient with one kid, and an absolute necessity with two kids! You can find SwimWays Baby Spring Floats in Target stores or online.
I can’t wait to give you my full review on this float soon!
2. Register for Swim Lessons
Here in Florida, swim lessons are a really big deal. Almost everyone has backyard pools, and we are surrounded by water all the time. Kids are always around water whether at the beach or at home. Swim lessons are a safety and survival issue, not just for fun!
Even if you aren’t in Florida, swim lessons are still a survival issue. No matter where you live you should make sure to find swim lessons for your kids. Local community centers usually offer great prices and some even offer scholarships if you can’t afford lessons.

3. Enjoy Cookout & Pool Themed Food by the Pool
This is the fun tip! There are so many fun things to eat during a pool party.
I love eating watermelon and popsicles by the pool.
These watermelon smoothies are great too!
If you want to cook out, try putting together an easy summer spread similar to one we did by the pool last year.
