I received a free trial of Smartick in exchange for my honest review.
Want to get your kids excited about math? That’s exactly what I wanted, so I gave Smartick a try. Smartick is a unique online math program aimed to increase mental agility and concentration.
Most parents think their kids are smart. I’m no exception. I’ve always thought that my oldest, now 4, is a fast thinker. He’s always had a thing for numbers and started doing math on his own at age 3. He would count the people in our living room and then tell us how many would be left if someone exited the room. I immediately knew that I needed to find some sort of enrichment program to keep him interested in numbers.
Of course, like most busy moms it was something I put on my to-do list that never actually got done. So when Smartick approached me about trying out their program, I thought, “why not?”
Why I like Smartick
I’m so happy that we decided to give it a try. Robert loves it so much that he not only asks to do it every single day, but he sees it as a privilege. Just a couple of nights ago I told him he couldn’t have a cookie if he didn’t finish his dinner. He could have cared less. Then I told him he wouldn’t get math time if he didn’t finish his dinner. That boy ate faster than I’d ever seen him eat before! He seriously asks to do math every single day!
What is Smartick?
Smartick is designed for children 4 to 14 years old and is powered by the latest Artificial Intelligence technology. It is ability based which means your child progresses at his or her own pace, building self-confidence, avoiding frustration, and developing a positive attitude to math.
Since Smartick is powered by AI technology it means that as a parent, you don’t have to spend your valuable time figuring out which lessons are appropriate for your child. I can literally put the computer in front of Robert and the program will figure out which lesson is best for him on that particular day. It even takes into account how he is feeling that day.
I most like that the sessions are short. Smartick uses a 15 minutes a day approach: short daily sessions at maximum concentration. This helps create a study habit and routine, it avoids burnout and keep children motivated and coming back for more. Smartick recommends that children do their session at least 5 days a week to truly experience the benefits of the program. If your child misses a session, Smartick will email you!
Robert loves that Smartick is like a game. Gamification elements keep him engaged and improve his concentration levels. The games in Smartick are scientifically designed to reinforce cognitive skills: perception, attention, memory and logical reasoning.
While Smartick is an online learning method, there is a team of educators available to answer any question parents or children may have. Families can reach out to the educators via phone, email, or chat.
You know I like a good deal, right? Smartick has a referral program where parents can benefit from a 27 dollar discount if they recommend a friend. And the new friend that subscribes will receive a 25% off the first subscription they buy. You can use my Smartick referral link here to get 25% off your subscription.
How much is Smartick?
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with Smartick. My only issue is that it is a bit expensive. You need to make sure you are willing to put in the time (only 15 minutes a day) before you decide to subscribe.
Smartick starts at $34.99 a month if you pay for a full year. If you decide to pay monthly it is nearly $50 a month.
Usually, I wouldn’t be interested in paying for something like this, especially since I’m a former teacher. I’ve always felt like I could teach my kids if I needed to. However, after seeing how Smartick works I’m completely sold. There is no way I could get Robert as excited about math as he is when he uses Smartick. It’s a program that I see us using for as long as Robert is interested.
