Friends ask me all the time why I love Amazon Prime so much. My answer? Because I take advantage of almost all the benefits of Amazon Prime. You can too! I put together a list of 21 ways to make the most of Amazon Prime benefits.
How to Make the Most of Your Amazon Prime Benefits
Amazon Prime is more than just 2 day shipping. These days there are tons of other Amazon perks that you may not even know about.
Don’t have Amazon Prime yet? Try Amazon Prime with a 30-Day Free Trial!
Make sure you are getting the most out of your Amazon Prime membership by doing these 21 things.
1. Buy an Amazon Fire TV (not the stick)
Personally this is the best way to take advantage of everything Amazon Prime has to offer. If you are a Prime member and don’t have Fire TV, you are missing out BIG TIME.
Why? It’s the absolute best way to get everything Amazon offers on one device that goes to your TV. Just like Apple TV, BlueRay players, and Roku, Fire TV has Netflix, Hulu and dozens of other apps. What makes it different is that it has the best way to keep track of Amazon Video, Amazon Music, and Amazon Photos.
You can access all of this on your Fire TV easily with zero delay time. Take it from me. I have a Sony Blue Ray player with the Amazon app on it for one of our TVs and the apps probably only work 85% of the time. My Fire TV in the other room works 100% of the time unless the internet is out.
This is because the Fire TV is actually a tiny little computer that can process video faster than many other boxes, and way faster than the stick. Don’t ever waste your money on the sticks!

Prices fluctuate between $84 and $100 depending on sales. I bought ours for $100 and it was worth every penny. I plan to buy another this year for Prime Day (July 11th).
2. Watch Amazon Video
Amazon video is one of my favorite Amazon Prime Perks for these reasons:
- There are tons of free movies and TV shows- good ones too!
- Amazon Original movies and TV shows are critically acclaimed award winning shows such as Transparent and Man in the High Castle.
- You can buy and rent movies from Amazon.
- Buying movies is great because you can then watch them on all your devices with the Amazon Video app. This is amazing when traveling with kids!
3. Take Advantage of Photo storage
You get unlimited photo storage with Amazon Prime. Let me repeat that: free unlimited photo storage. This is huge!
Once they are uploaded you can order prints, cards, and more.
The best part about this is that once you have them on one device they are searchable across all your devices without taking up storage. Isn’t this a great way to make more room on your phone?
4. PreOrder Eligible Items
I do this a lot for books, but you can take advantage of release-date deliver for anything- movies, video games, and more. You preorder them and then they arrive on your doorstep on the release date. Beats waiting in line at the store, right?
5. Get the Amazon App & Prime Now
You need two apps- the Amazon App and Prime Now.
The Amazon App will come in handy for alerting you about the best deals for Prime Day and holiday sales.
Select cities now offer Prime Now where all sorts of things, including restaurant food, can be delivered to you in less than 2 hours. I’ve known many friends who do this while on vacation in Orlando. I’ve yet to try it, but it looks cool! Learn more about Prime Now.
6. Amazon Channels
Finally get rid of cable and sign up for a free trial of Amazon Channels where you can get over 80 premium networks including HBO, SHOWTIME and STARZ. Head here to get a free trial of Amazon Channels.
7. Prime Pantry
Prime Pantry is another amazing benefit of Amazon Prime. For a flat rate of $5.99 you can buy groceries at super low prices- 35% cheaper than most grocery stores. If you fill that box with 5 items or more you get free shipping!
Personally, I still love grocery shopping so I don’t do this at home, however, this is a great way to get groceries shipped to you on vacation. Ask for the hotel or condo to hold it for you until you check in and you already have your favorite cereal and snack items waiting for you when you arrive!
8. Subscribe & Save
Get up to 15% off your favorite bulk items using Subscribe & Save and have them delivered to your door every single month. This is how we buy our paper towels, toilet paper, and diapers. We never run out because they arrive on our doorstep just in time. I absolutely love it!
9. Amazon Family
Along with saving money, Amazon Family, is the same as Amazon Prime, but with the added perk of 20% off diapers!
If you already have Amazon Prime, you will be updated to Amazon Family by adding a child profile on the Amazon Family page. Scroll down to the Amazon Family Ages and Stages and click on “add a profile”.
10. Amazon FreeTime Unlimited
If you have kids, you need Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. It gives your kids access to thousands of kid-friendly books, shows, games and more, for just $2.99/month or a flat rate of $49.99 a year.
When you do this it sets up goals and time limits on the Kindle Fire devices. We have two Kindle Fires for the kids and have this set up. They can only play a certain amount of time on an app, watch a show for a set time, and then we have goals for reading.
The Kids Edition of the Kindle Fire comes with one free year of FreeTime on it. We opted not to buy it because we found a better deal on a traditional Kindle Fire during the Black Friday sales. It was cheaper to buy the traditional one and add FreeTime, than to buy the kid edition. Plus, I get to use it too!
11. Get Early access to lightning deals
When it is Prime Day, Black Friday, and holiday shopping season you get the best early access to lightning deals. Take advantage of this!
12. Listen to Free Prime Music
You can save hundreds of dollars a year by listening to the Prime Music.
Not good enough for you? No worries, you can also get a great deal on Amazon Music Unlimited where you have an even bigger option of music!

15. Free 6 month subscription to Washington Post
