Happy Labor Day! Here is a shopping inspired post to help you get in the mood for the Labor Day sales!
It seems like everyone is glued to their cell phones these days, right? Why not add some shopping apps to the mix? Admit it, you’re tired of spending all your time on the Facebook and Instagram apps anyway. Add a little variety to your smart phone and follow these 4 steps to save money with shopping apps.
- Only download the free ones- the best shopping apps make their money from retailers, not the consumers. Don’t get suckered into spending money to save money.
- Give it a trial run- You’ll never know if you like it if you don’t give it a try. Put the app on your phone for a week and if you aren’t utilizing it by the end of the week, delete it.
- Turn on push notifications- This is by far the BEST way to stay on top of sales. I’m in love with the push notifications from Shopular (more info on my favorite apps below).
- Utilize the notifications and get the most from your apps- It isn’t enough to see the notification, read them and try to take advantage of the deals.
This isn’t my first time to blog about apps. At one point I was really into ShopKick and Ibotta. Both of those give rewards. I no longer use those, instead I’ve added a few different ones to my iPhone. ShopKick and Ibotta are still great apps, but I wasn’t utilizing them enough to keep them on my phone. These are the ones I’m currently utilizing the most:
Shopular– a database of over 1,000 malls, supermarkets, drugstores and superstores alerts you when their is a sale or promotion that is of interest to you. If you hate missing a sale or good deal, you’ve got to add this app to your smart phone.
Cartwheel– Target coupons right on your phone, enough said. Seriously, who doesn’t love Target? This app requires no planning. I scan the app while I’m in the store and instantly get coupons. Even better, you can stack them with other store coupons!
I’m interested in adding these to my phone and iPad:
Wanelo– think Pinterest meets shopping
thredUP– it’s like a mobile thrift shop!
RetailMeNot- discount codes for buying almost anything
ZipList– think Pinterest meets grocery shopping, you pick the recipes and a grocery list is sent to you
Checkout51– similar to Ibotta, you get savings for buying certain products and once you hit $20, you get a check sent to you
CellFire– compares savings from different stores and loads savings to your loyalty cards
GroceryIQ– create grocery list, print coupons and holds all your loyalty cards
What are your favorite shopping apps? What else should I add to my phone?
Do you already use ebates? I love it! I don’t get a ton back every time, but every little bit is nice!
I love ebates, but I don’t utilize it enough. I rarely buy stuff online. I need to remind myself to use it when I am shopping online!
