Have you ever found yourself wondering if a Vitamix is actually worth the money? I get it. The Vitamix blenders are a pretty penny, and it is tempting to buy something much cheaper like a Ninja or Oster. I’m here to tell you that Vitamix is worth the money, especially if you opt for a refurbished Vitamix.
Check out some of the reasons I think Vitamix is the best blender and how to get the best deals on a Vitamix blender.
Why is Vitamix so expensive?
You get what you pay for. A Vitamix is so expensive because it’s a high quality machine that doesn’t just work well, but lasts forever. In today’s society where items are meant to break and not last long, Vitamix breaks from the mold and builds good machines.
One of my favorite things about being frugal is surprising people with my expensive things. No one ever expects a frugal living blogger to have top of the line products that cost a pretty penny. However, one of my tenets for frugal living is to buy high quality products. The truth is, you get what you pay for. If you buy something cheap, then it is more likely to break, and you’re likely to spend more money in the long run replacing cheap products over and over again.
What makes Vitamix so special?
Well, I have 5 reasons outlined below that tell you why I think Vitamix is so special. But to answer in a different way, Vitamix is so special because it is a high quality blender that actually blends well. Say goodbye to chunky smoothies or bits of spinach in your green drink.
It’s also more than just a smoothie machine. You can make so much with a Vitamix. You can make hot soups, batters, dressings, nut butters, non dairy milk, and more. I even use mine to make powdered sugar out of granulated sugar. Seriously, you can do so much with it!
Here are 5 Reasons You Need a Vitamix
1. A Vitamix will save you money in the long run
How often have you paid over $5 for a smoothie or an açaí bowl only to think, “heck, I could make this at home”?
If you’re anything like me, you’ve said that in your head a lot of times. It actually hurts me to pay money for smoothies and bowls when they are so incredibly easy to make at home.
Once you have a high quality blender like a Vitamix at home, you’ll most likely be more inclined to make your own smoothies instead of paying for them when you are out and about.
2. A Vitamix can blend hot foods into dreamy soups
Not every blender can handle blending hot foods. But the Vitamix can! This is one of my favorite features of the Vitamix blender. I love that it is super easy to make a velvety broccoli or asparagus soup from my leftovers. Asparagus ends are notoriously stringy and hard to make into a creamy soup. Not with a Vitamix. I never have that problem.
I often post pictures of my soups made from odds and ends of food waste and I always get the question- how do you make it so smooth? It’s the Vitamix. That is the secret to smooth, velvety soups.

3. You can score great deals on a reconditioned Vitamix
You don’t have to shell out a ton of money for a brand new Vitamix. The reconditioned Vitamix option is pretty sweet. I personally love the reconditioned Explorian.
Head here to learn more about the Explorian and get the best deal through the Vitamix store.

4. A Vitamix lasts forever
I’ve had my reconditioned Standard Vitamix for 6 years. I’ve never once had an issue with it.
Compare this with the brand new Ninja, Oster, and Hamilton Beach brands that I’ve had in the past that only lasted a year max. Blenders are cheap either! If you keep replacing your low quality blender each year, then you are probably spending just as much in the long run as you would have on a Vitamix.
5. The standard warranty on a Vitamix is 3 years!
If you do have a problem with a new or reconditioned Vitamix, you can get it fixed or get a new one during the first 3 years. That is pretty nice!
I’ll never live without a Vitamix. I use mine daily and really, truly, can’t imagine my life without it. I promise you buying a Vitamix is a good decision.
