A big thank you to REMfresh for sponsoring this post and helping me sleep better and longer!
Tired of feeling like a zombie every morning? Are you on the verge of Googling the best sleeping pills because you’re at your wits end? I’ve got you covered with some all natural sleep tips that you are going to love. These 7 secrets to better sleep will have you feeling refreshed in no time.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found it harder and harder to get a good night’s sleep. Just as soon as the kids start sleeping through the night, I’ll get anxious that they are sleeping too well and then I have a hard time sleeping. As much as I’d love to blame my sleep issues on the kids, I know it’s a fact that as we age, we naturally have a harder time sleeping. It’s not just the moms and dads that have issues, we all need a few tips on how to sleep better.
I have to tell you that lately I’ve been getting 7+ hours of sleep. It’s like my body is making up for all those sleepless nights after having 3 kids in 4 years. It’s also because I’ve been following these 7 secrets to better sleep. My number one secret is REMfresh Melatonin. With the help of a melatonin sleep aid, I’ve been able to sleep longer and wake up refreshed.
It’s important to me to be able to fall asleep with non-prescription sleep aids. I still have a nursing baby and even though he sleeps through the night most nights, there are still those nights where I’m up in the middle of the night. I can’t risk being drugged. I’d probably end up hurting myself on the way to his room! With melatonin, I am able to still wake up if needed and not feel drugged.
Many of us have trouble sleeping, but we are afraid to talk about it with our peers or significant others. The science of sleep is still the wild west, but there are some tips to sleep better.
Follow these 7 Secrets to Better Sleep
7. Turn the Electronics Off
One hour before bed turn all electronic devices off. This includes your television and cell phone. Trust me, your friends on social media will still be there tomorrow; and, you really do not need to see what your ex-boyfriend from middle school is currently eating for dinner.
6. Don’t Sleep Next to Your Phone
Once you turn off your electronics, make sure to plug your phone in for the night far away from you. I like to sleep with mine a few feet away from me where I plug in all my electronics. I set the alarm for the morning and then have to get up to turn it off. It helps me resist the temptation to look on my phone after I’ve put away electronics for the night.
5. Create a Bedtime Routine
Follow a bedtime routine. Take out your contacts, wash your face, and brush your teeth. I don’t care in what order. But allow some sort of routine to trigger your body into realizing that it’s night-night time. Trust me, after a couple of weeks of following the same bedtime routine, you will hopefully again sleep like a baby.
4. Drink Calming Tea
If you can’t sleep, try drinking some type of tea. Please read the label. On occasion, my husband has given me caffeinated tea, thinking he is helping. Caffeinated tea, of course, will not help you sleep! I’m a fan of all the different types of sleepy time teas that help relax you before bed.
3. Do Relaxing Yoga
Can’t sleep, try doing three relaxing poses. Do not attempt difficult yoga. Just try a couple of relaxing poses to clear your mind.
2. Read a Book
Reading a book always puts my husbands to sleep. Of course, I would not recommend a thriller, but reading a book does help many folks sleep soundly.
1. Take Melatonin
Melatonin is my go to sleep supplement to help me fall asleep without the aid of prescription sleeping pills. There are non-prescription pills that can help us get the zzz’s necessary to lead a productive life. As we become busier, and get stressed out, our bodies produce less melatonin, the key ingredient that we need to fall and stay asleep. I like REMfresh because it’s the #1 recommended sleeping pill and has an advanced sleep formulation helping me to stay asleep longer. In fact, REMFresh has a 7 hour release that gives off melatonin over the span of 7 hours, allowing you to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
