Happy Food Waste Friday! I still can’t believe that I didn’t waste any food last week. Of course, the streak didn’t keep going this week. Even though I tossed out some food, we had a pretty good success with our Apricot Sorbet recipe.

Apricot Sorbet
I posted this picture on Facebook last week asking for recipe ideas.
I had no idea what to do with these very ripe apricots. I knew I either wanted to try sorbet, no bake energy bars or muffins. You all spoke, and sorbet won the vote! Here is my very first video uploaded to YouTube.
I’m still learning how to make videos, but I think this is pretty good for my first one. Ever. Right? Here is the recipe if you don’t want to watch the video. I’m not a huge fan of videos, I’d much rather read a recipe or directions.
Ingredients
- 10 apricots pitted and cubed
- 1 banana cut into slices
Instructions
- Freeze apricots and banana for at least an hour. Add to food processor and process until smooth. Eat right away if you like it soft. Freeze for at least 30 minutes if you want it to be the consistency of sorbet.

Losses
Beans
I put together a fabulous beanie weenie recipe in honor Wet Hot American Summer. The recipe will be on the blog on Monday. Sadly, I made way too many beans than we could eat in a week. I had to throw them out because they started getting a little slimy. Gross!
Potatoes
These guys got slimy too! What’s up with that? Obviously I leave things in my fridge for too long.
How did you do this week? Don’t forget to link up with The Frugal Girl and Simply Being Mum for #FoodWasteFriday.
This is awesome! I need to come here more often for tips! I have been trying to do the same, but we waste a lot of food unintentionally, especially produce. We had a box of wrinkly Roma tomatoes in the fridge this week; my husband boiled, blanched, and froze them for future tomato sauce. So there’s a start! Thanks for sharing this on #FoodandFitnessFriday!
This post is featured on this week’s #FoodandFitnessFriday. I hope you can stop by this weekend! Would love to see what foods you saved from the trash this week!
Oh this looks amazing! I’m sitting here wanting to taste it! Thanks for joining in on food and fitness friday!
What program did you use to make the video? You did a great job!
I just used the video app on my iPhone 6. It came with the phone! I just recently got a 6 so I’m trying to make use of all the features since we spent so much money on it.
Nice work on the video! I need to get on that, I don’t usually watch them though so it’s hard for me to get motivated to do them. You know, these food waste posts have actually really helped me stop wasting as much food. We were really bad about it, and we are slowly getting better and better at eating things before they go bad, and eating leftovers. So thanks for that!
Your video looks awesome! You did a GREAT job and nobody would ever know it’s your first one!
Thanks! It’s starting to become fun to make videos!
Wanted to pop across and say Hi! Just about to watch the video!
Hi Hannah,
Popping over from Food and Fitness Friday. Love the recipe and love the theme of your blog!
I need to make some videos as well. Great job!
