Welcome summer with a fun summer themed BBQ taste test party. This is an exciting way to try a bunch of different barbecue sauces, and a great excuse to host a summer party.
When I think of summer, I think of BBQ, grilling, and picnics. Nothing is more fun than getting friends and family together to enjoy good food and even better company. This would be a fun party to recreate for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, or even Father’s Day.
How to Host a BBQ Taste Test Party
Follow these super easy tips to host your own barbecue taste test party.
Cook your Barbecue
With a party like this, keep things simple by grilling out or making pulled pork in the crockpot.
Provide a variety of protein such as chicken, pork, and tofu in order to have plenty of food for everyone. Since you want everyone to try lots of different sauces, serve the meat on slider rolls.
Pick your sauces
I’m a fan of making parties like this easy, so I picked up a party pack with 4 different types of BBQ sauces, however, you can use any type of sauce you’d like for a blind BBQ taste test party.
Hide the Labels
Cover the labels with scrapbook paper and stickers.

Decorate
I’m always a fan of keeping it cheap and simple. I use lots of reusable items such as mason jars for the drinks, chalk board signs and banner, and a vinyl tablecloth. I always try to use reusable items so I can use them for multiple parties. It helps me save money so I can throw better parties more often!
Chalkboard decor mixed in with red and white check keep this party feeling like a summer backyard BBQ, even if you aren’t cooking outside.
Eat & Vote
Let your guests blind taste all of the sauces. We had them taste test on pulled pork, shredded chicken and tofu sliders.
I printed out taste testing cards for them to take tasting notes and take their guess on which sauce was which. The winner got to take home the sauces.
Of course you can’t have good southern food without delicious sides. I made a lightened up coleslaw salad, green tomato and corn salad, and baked beans to go with our sliders.
Our BBQ Taste Test Party
This was such a fun party to throw! I still can’t get over how much people loved testing the different sauces. Everyone had a different favorite. They also had different tasting methods. Some people tasted on their plates.
Others skipped the plate.
Overall, everyone had a blast giving all the sauces a try. You can tell that the meal was a success by all the clean plates!

Those sliders look delicious! I love the idea of having a taste test…it sounds like a lot of fun plus everyone gets to try something they may not have tried otherwise. Looks like your party was a big success!
It was a success! I can’t believe I pulled it off right before the Disney trip.
What a fun party! I love how you turned it into a little game to see which sauce they liked best and everything looks so completely delicious!! Yumm!!! The tablescape is super fun, too!
Thank you!
We had a blast! But where is the pic of the winner?!?!
LOL! I should have included it!
