Being a mom is so much fun. It’s seriously the best job I’ve ever had. Hands down, it’s the most rewarding. But lately, I’ve been stressed and overwhelmed. The boys don’t nap at the same time. I’m weaning Jackson, and I’m a hormonal mess all the time. I’ve decided that I need to give myself a little Mother’s Day present: I need to give myself a little bit of grace.
For the last couple of weeks I haven’t felt like my best self. I’ve felt tired, overwhelmed, and like I’m not giving everything my all. At the end of the day I can’t help but feel like I barely tackled my to do list. I could say this is the season of life, that all moms feel this way sometimes, but I think it’s more than that. I’m pretty sure we all feel this way sometimes, mom or not.
All of this was the topic of conversation when I caught up with one of my best friends on the phone this past week. She gave me the best advice:
Give yourself grace.
So often we give other people grace, but forget that we can give ourselves grace too. Why is it easier to show grace to a perfect stranger or a good friend than it is to give it to ourselves?
[bctt tweet=”Why is it easier to show grace to others than it is to give it to ourselves? #mothersday”]I’m not one to blog on self help, so I won’t delve deep into these thoughts. Instead, I’ll give you a little printable to remind you to give yourself a little bit of grace at the end of the day.

This is one of my all time favorite quotes. When I was in college, I had this right by my bed so it was the last thing I would see before going to sleep.
I think it’s important to remember that even if you don’t get everything done by bedtime, the day is done. Finish it. Be done with it.
Give yourself grace.
Right now I’m giving myself grace when really I’d rather beat myself up for not having anything ready for my mom, MIL and step mom for Mother’s Day. I’ll figure something out though. I’m sure the grandparents will be happy even if we just do FaceTime.
