Best Time to Buy Anything- February Edition

Have you ever wondered when is the best time to buy certain items? I know I have! This series of blog posts is to help you figure out what items are at their cheapest prices each month. At the beginning of every month I’ll post what items you should be buying. Of course, only buy if you are seriously in the market. You can’t save money if you’re spending it! Here is the February edition of Best Time to Buy.

Best time to buy anything

Chocolate

Don’t buy any chocolate until the day after Valentine’s Day.  Sure, it takes the romance out of the gesture if you’re buying it for someone else.  If you want candy for yourself, save a few bucks and stock up after the 14th.

Broadway Tickets

CNN says this is the best time to get your Broadway tickets for the less popular shows. The Fall and Winter are slow season for Broadway and the new year offers their greatest deals.

Tax Software Deals

Keep an eye out for deals from H&R Block and Turbo Tax. They can be up to 50% off this month for the early birds! No rush though as these sales will last into March.

Cell Phones

This is a good time of year if you are in the market for two new cell phones.  Many retailers do a BOGO theme for Valentine’s Day.

Furniture

Furniture companies release new models in February and August which means stores are trying to clear out old inventory this month in order to make room for the new stuff. You could find some pretty great deals on clearance furniture right now. This is still a good time to get deals on the older models.

Steak and Seafood

Grocery stores will do their best to push high end groceries for Valentine’s Day.  Check out the stores on the 15th to find markdowns on steak and seafood that wasn’t bought for a romantic meal.

Condoms and Lube

Sticking with the Valentine’s Day theme, you can score some cheap condoms and lube even before Valentine’s Day.

Perfume

Oh yes, another love themed item.  This is the best month to buy some perfume at a good price.

Air Conditioners

Anytime in winter is a good time to purchase a new AC unit.  If you’re in the market, don’t wait until summer when the prices go up.

Produce

Remember that this list is pretty subjective to where you live. For the most part all of these will be relatively low right now.

Broccoli, Dried Beans, Grapefruit, Artichoke, Asparagus, Avocado, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Chard, Collards, Fennel, Kale, Leek, Lemon, Lime, Mushrooms, Spring Onions, Orange, Peas, Radish, Rhubarb, Spinach, Strawberries, Tangerine – Get the full list for the year at Stock Piling Moms’ website.

Our strawberries and blueberries are tasting best and better each week and the price keeps dropping.  This is my favorite time of year in Florida for fruit!

Now it’s your turn! Did I miss anything? Let me know and I’ll add it!

I’m still getting over the Christmas sugar rush! So I don’t think I’ll be stocking up on chocolates this year! Will probably be buying seafood for Valentine’s Day though.

Chocolate gives me heartburn while I’m pregnant so I’ve sworn off buying any during the sales. It will be a struggle because I’m a big chocolate lover!

I love getting Christmas decorations after Christmas, especially St. Nicholas Square stuff from Kohls. I won’t buy them before the holidays but I’ve gotten them for over half of after them!

The after Christmas sales get me through holiday décor envy! No point buying it full price when it goes down by at least half just a few days later.
