Have you ever wondered when is the best time to buy certain items? I know I have! This series of blog posts is to help you figure out what items are at their cheapest prices each month. At the beginning of every month I’ll post what items you should be buying. Of course, only buy if you are seriously in the market. You can’t save money if you’re spending it! Here is the April edition of Best Time to Buy.
Cruises
This one always seems counterintuitive to me because it’s the end of Spring break and beginning of summer. I guess for those reason, cruises reach their lowest prices when you shop now for later dates.
Sneakers
The New Year’s resolution rush is far from over and you can find the best deals of the year for sneakers this month. Be on the lookout for great deals at your favorite shoe and running stores.
Spring Clothing
Keep an eye out for deals around 25% off Spring clothing. This isn’t the lowest they will go though, in May you should see Spring clothing as low as 50% off.
Mother’s Day Items
This is a tricky one. There will be sales as Mother’s Day approaches, however there will also be a spike in prices once it gets too close. If you are looking for jewelry for mom, it is best to buy now before prices surge.
Tax Day Freebies
Here in the US we tend to get a bunch of freebies from fast food restaurants on tax day. I’ll post a full round up when I see it and put it here and my Facebook page.
Raincoats
April showers not only bring May flowers, they also bring raincoat sales.
Produce
Remember that this list is pretty subjective to where you live. For the most part all of these will be relatively low right now.
- Artichokes
- Arugula (Rocket)
- Asparagus
- Beans
- Beets
- Chives
- Dandelion greens
- Fava Beans
- Fiddlehead Fern
- Horseradish
- Leeks (end of season)
- Lettuce (leaf and head)
- Limes
- Morel Mushrooms
- Oranges
- Papayas
- Peas
- Ramps
- Rhubarb
- Shallots
- Strawberries
- Sweet Onions
- Turnips
- Watercress
Now it’s your turn! Did I miss anything? Let me know and I’ll add it!
We actually got snow yesterday! Hopefully it will be just rain that we need to look out for moving forward. I didn’t know that fast food places gave out freebies on tax day, I’ll be looking forward to that post! I am so bitter about this weather that I haven’t even considered buying spring clothes yet. I am pretty proud of myself though, I’ve been getting by on the maternity clothes that I bought when I was pregnant with my son, so I’ve been able to save a huge amount of money. I think once it starts getting hot though, I’m going to have to finally give in. I wish I had something to add, but I am literally so clueless to trends like this, I am actually learning a lot from this series!
