Budget Friendly Star Wars Day Activities
I wish I could treat my whole family to a trip to Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but let’s get real, planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation isn’t always in the budget. Even if we live in Florida! Maybe one day our family will celebrate this unofficial holiday in Disney. After all, it really is the perfect excuse to celebrate my oldests birthday. That’s right, he was born on May the Fourth. For that reason, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Star Wars and May the Fourth be with you parties.
In fact, his 4th birthday party was a Jedi Training play date complete with pool noodle lightsabers and water gun blasters.
For less than $10 at The Dollar Tree I was able to host a few of Robert’s favorite friends over for an lightsaber and blaster fighting. What better way to host a Star Wars celebration that to let the kids run around and roughhouse with pool noodles and water guns?
Keep reading to find some of my favorite budget friendly ways to say, “Happy Star Wars Day” to your family.
Make your own pool noodle lightsabers for Star Wars Day
If you are going to welcome kids into your Star Wars Universe then you absolutely have to give them their own lightsaber. This is a great way to let kids pretend to be their favorite Star Wars characters.
Make your own lightsabers with pool noodles, duct tape, and electrical tape also from Dollar Tree.
How to make a lightsaber out of a pool noodle:
- Cut each pool noodle in half
- Wrap the bottom quarter of the noodle in silver duct tape
- Use electrical tape to add definition to the silver part of the light saber
- Use a red Sharpie to add an on and off “button”

Make Blue Milk for Your Star Wars Fans
Star Wars enthusiasts know that banthas, a large furry creature, makes blue milk. And if you’ve ever been to Galaxy’s Edge at Disney, then you’ve probably had it!
In the theme park it has a fruity yet vanilla like taste. You can make your own by simply adding blue dye to your favorite milk or milk alternative like this Bantha Milk recipe from The Gingerbread House.
Or this year you can even find Blue Star Wars Milk in stores! TruMoo is selling a limited edition Star Wars themed blue milk to commemorate the special day.

Host a Star Wars Movie Marathon
Whether you’re introducing your kids to the movies for the first time or you are entering a galaxy far away for the thousandth time, May 4th is the best day to hunker down and watch these fabulous film by George Lucas.
Now, I don’t want to tell you how to watch a movie, but it is important for you to figure out how you want to watch the movies. Will you start with Episode IV: A New Hope? Or will you start with Episode I: The Phantom Menance?
Honestly, there really isn’t a wrong way to watch these classic movies. Sometimes we just put a random one on in the background during our May Fourth celebrations and sometimes we stick with the original trilogy. However, if you want to watch all of the movies in chronological order, here is how you can do it:
- The Phantom Menace
- Attack of the Clones
- Revenge of the Sith
- Solo
- Rogue One
- A New Hope
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
- The Force Awakens
- The Last Jedi
- The Rise of Skywalker
