When you spend a lot of money on Disney World tickets, the last thing you want to do is spend a lot of money in the park. Check out my Disney hack for all the things you need to buy at The Dollar Tree before you head to the happiest place on Earth. This list of what to buy before going to Disney World can save you a lot of money!
We leave for Disney TONIGHT! I’ve already bought all my Dollar Tree Goodies. Make sure to follow along on my trip through social media.
5 Things to Buy at The Dollar Tree Before Heading to Disney World
Sugary Treats
Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, buy overpriced suckers and other sugary snacks at Disney World or Disneyland.
See that sucker above? It’s only $1 at The Dollar Tree. That same exact size sucker is $4.99 in Disney World.
I’m also a big fan of buying cotton candy at The Dollar Tree. It’s way cheaper than buying it in the park.
The best part about the suckers and cotton candy is that kids don’t even realize that they are getting cheap alternatives. I’ve never had my kids say think I didn’t buy the treats in Disney!
Regular Snacks
Special treats are fun, but it’s important to stock up on regular snacks too. The Dollar Tree has all sorts of stuff from peanut butter crackers to cookies. It’s a good idea to pick up snacks you know your kids will like.
Costumes
You can spend a few bucks at The Dollar Tree on costumes or a small fortune on them at Disney World. I prefer to buy them before I go to Disney.
This is a cute one for little pirates.
You can’t take a little princess without a tiara, right? This set is great!
Glow Sticks
This is my favorite hack! It’s great for kids (and adults) of all ages. About an hour before the sun sets, Disney starts to sell all their glow and light up merchandise. If you think Disney costumes are expensive, just wait until you see the price of glow wands! The interactive ones are up to $40!
Get these instead:
I’ve actually had people stop me in the park and ask me where I got the wands for my kids. I’m almost ashamed sometimes when I tell them I only spent $1. I feel like I’m telling them a dirty secret.
Rain Ponchos
Ponchos are $17 in the park and only $1 at The Dollar Tree. Even if you don’t like to wear ponchos, pick a couple up just in case.
What is your favorite Disney hack from The Dollar Tree? I’m always looking for new ideas!
Nice article Hannnah. I love the glowstick part and I think if you have to spend $40 for a glowstick it is pretty costly then. Honestly, I never thought that I could get this for a little more than a dollar.
I know! It’s crazy what people will spend in Disney. To be fair, the $40 ones in Disney are pretty cool. They light up at specific times during the Fantasmic show. The technology is cool, but my kids are perfectly fine with the ones from the Dollar Tree!
i love lollipops i got the carnival lollipop one yesterday and im eating it right now its delicious! and cheap :D
