DIY Hand Painted Wine Glasses and Shot Glasses

I had so much fun planning for my best friend’s bachelorette party!  I was able to make some wine glasses, shot glasses and some hangover kits for a fraction of the price that I would have paid if I had ordered them.

I was able to make the wine glasses for $2.56 each and the shot glasses for 78¢!  And that includes the paint and paint brushes.  I still have plenty of paint and the paint brushes, so if I do this again it would only be the cost of the wine glasses or shot glasses themselves.

I was able to get 12 wine glasses for $12.99 at Marshall’s:

I also picked up 12 shot glasses for $7.98.

The paint was only $1.79 each.  I got gloss enamel paint that is safe for glass.  You can also use glass markers to write directly on the glass.

  First I had to clean each glass with rubbing alcohol.

I printed the letters in the font that I wanted (it took several tried to get the right size).

Next I taped the letters to the inside of the glass so I could trace them.

This was a smaller one, I ended up making bigger letters. Then I painted!  It took forever!  I really thought this would be quick, but it took a while to get used to the paint and the brush.  The paint was also really thin and I needed to do 3-4 layers just to get it as dark as I wanted.

I painted the bottoms pink so I had to dry them upside down.  The shot glasses also got letters, and pink paint on the bottom.

I started off with a glass of wine, but had to stop.  It was too hard to paint sober, I couldn’t handle the buzz!

Tomorrow I will go into detail about the hangover kits that I was able to make for $2.02 each.

This def took more time then I would have liked but it was a fun experience and a great way to make my friends party special without spending a lot of money.
