It’s here! Cold and flu season has officially begun. Are you ready? I’ve put together some of my favorite cost effective ways to protect yourself from cold and flu season, as well as a great giveaway!
I’m excited to say that this year, I am actually prepared. Here are the cost effective ways we have prepared:
[bctt tweet=”Check out these easy ways to protect yourself during cold and flu season! Enter the #giveaway too!” username=”eatdrinkandsave”]Use a humidifier
I’m a big believer of borrowing things you don’t regularly use. For this reason we don’t own power tools. It’s just as easy to borrow them from a friend when we need them. And for the last three years I’ve borrowed a humidifier from friends during cold and flu season. After three years of borrowing, I finally decided to get my own. I have to tell you, it’s money well spent! You can find them at Walmart. Shop here.
Before owning my own humidifier, I thought they were only good for easing a cold. I had no idea that they could help prevent the survival of the flu virus on surfaces. Vicks cool and warm mist humidifiers are helpful in attaining proper humidity levels in your home – which can reduce the survival of flu viruses on surfaces and in the air – and increase your wellness all year round. We’ve been using ours every single day! We all fight over who gets to sleep with it in our room. Here it is in Robert’s room.
My favorite tip is to buy a humidifier. Here are 7 more tips to stay healthy:
Don’t touch your face
Clean common areas
Get some sleep
Flu shots
Eat healthy
Exercise often
Wash your hands

What are you favorite ways to stay healthy during cold and flu season?
Staying inside and keeping bundled.
Lol. It’s a little hot here in Florida to stay bundled up. But we would do that if we were up north.
Drink lots of water and have elderberry on hand to prevent/lessen colds!
Interesting! I’ve never used elderberry!
I drink warm lemon and honey water to help soothe sore throats and take extra vitamin c.
Yes! I was going to add that but the post was getting a little long! That’s definitely one of my favorites too.
For us it is additional vitamin c, hand sanitizer, and flu shot.
i absolutely love teas so that works for me
Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water.
We stay healthy by getting flu shots and washing our hands often!
Taking extra vitamins and drinking lots of water!
Exercise. Lots of healthy food.Washing hands.
My favorite way to stay healthy is to wash my hands often and take vitamin c.
This is so great.. especially during this season! We all try and keep ourselves hydrated and we take daily vitamins. I actually work in a hospital in the ER so it’s a constant battle trying to be germ free. Hand sanitizer is my best friend although it eventually dries your skin out. I find that water helps a ton and I usually drink water with fruit, like lemon and mint!
My fave way to stay healthy is to get lots of rest and take emergen c to boost my immune system.
My favorite way to stay healthy is to get lots of rest!
We all get a flu shot sometimes it works sometimes not so much. Also it gets really cold here in northern New Hampshire so we always have on layers. It never fails someone in my house always ends up with the flu. I like it when it doesn’t spread to anyone else.
What a great giveaway!
I love my essential oils and vitamins
My best tip is to get a humidifier right away, especially if you have dry heat like i do from a wood stove. This can make the congestion a whole lot worse if you get sick.
I wash my hands constantly, and take a multi vitamin
Eat right, stay hydrated, get plenty of rest and wash hands often
I try to keep my hands cleaned often and try to avoid crowds
I try to feed my children lots of good fruits and veggies to keep them healthy.
I MAKE SURE TO DISINFECT ON A REGULAR BASIS AND WASH MY HANDS.
Make sure we get plenty of rest, proper amount of vitamins, wash our hands regularly, and disinfectant spray!
Drink lots of water, wash your hands often, and take a daily vitamin.
Me & my family regularly get the flu shot! And I continuously instill in my children that disinfecting the house isn’t fun but will have lasting benefits. Meaning they can play outside and enjoy there video games, drawing, watching movies while not being sick. I keep cold & flu medicine on hand along with kleenex and antibacterial hand gel.
We amp up our multivitamin use and take an probiotic!
