It’s that time of year again. You know, where you really want the entire family to eat healthy because everyone is exposed to all the germs during back to school season, but you’re also too exhausted to get a balanced meal on the table. I feel you. I’m there too. That is why I’m so happy about the new Family Night promotion at The Local here in Naples, FL!
If you’ve been following me for long then you know that I’m a little obsessed with supporting the locavore movement. You can learn more about my obsession here.
The Local is Naples’ First Farm and Sea-to-Table Restaurant
It’s no surprise that The Local is one of my favorite places to visit to support the local food movement here in Southwest Florida. The Local is the Naples’ first farm and sea-to-table restaurant. Owner and award winning Executive Chef Jeff Mitchell and his team celebrate the intersection of local farmers, rangers, sea-mongers, artisans, and brewers. I’m also totally obsessed with the fact that The Local offers simple, delicious, and nourishing dishes, which is something I’m always trying to provide at home. And if I’m being honest, is really hard to find when dining out with a family.

Our Family Night Experience at The Local
We had so much fun trying out the Family Night menu. This is the perfect spot for kids and parents to wind down at the end of a busy school day. Family Night at The Local is on Mondays and Tuesdays, which is a great way to start the week!
Tom and I started with a salad and a soup. Tom got the classic Local organic kale caesar salad and I got the soup of the day, a starfruit gazpacho! Even the kids enjoyed the starfruit gazpacho, it was so good. This is why I love The Local- the kids and I get exposed to new local flavors that never cease to impress us.
I ordered the pork ragu and Tom ordered the beef brisket. We were both impressed with the flavors, portions, and the ease of dinner out with the kids.
As for the kids, they were pretty happy with sourdough pizza and grilled chicken. My favorite thing about The Local is that I’m always able to get something nutritious in Robert’s belly (he has an autoimmune disorder and has to eat nutritious food).
I can’t forget to tell you about the doughnuts that come with the Family Night meal! We had the most delicious zeppole, rich Italian doughnuts with ricotta, deep fried and rolled in cinnamon and sugar served with a cream anglaise sauce. Everyone loved all the food, but we also all agreed that the highlight was the dessert. What a treat!
Overall, it was a great experience. We’ve been visiting The Local for years and we’ve always enjoyed it. Family Night is an added bonus to this gem of a local establishment.
