Did you check out my post about freebies on Monday? It’s a pretty comprehensive list of ways to get freebies for bloggers and non-bloggers. As I was putting it together I realized that I had a couple of freebies from friends that I never got around to reviewing. The holiday season was so busy that I kept putting it off. I figured What I Spent Wednesday would be the perfect time to discuss them.
Lots of my friends sell stuff through direct sales (learn more about making money with direct sales in this post). I love having friends who do direct sales because I enjoy buying stuff from them. It’s so much more rewarding to support a friend than a big business (although I have to admit that a lot of my money goes to Target and Amazon). Two of my friends sent me goodies for the holidays. I even put some of them in my stocking!
Eggnog + stocking stuffers! I’m doing a little holiday sorting tonight. 🌲 These are a few of the cheap things/ freebies I’ve gotten lately. I’m most excited about stuffing my own stocking with this Stella & Dot bracelet from @andreaandjohn_lorenson. I was really excited to win it from her Instagram account! And thank you, @gyoung118 for the Rodan + Fields sample! Does anyone else get excited about stuffing their own stockings? Particularly with freebies? #becauseimcheap #stockingstuffers #eggnog #almostfinishedchristmasshopping
This isn’t the first time I’ve used R+F. A good friend of mine use to sell it and I had great results with the acne wash. This was, however, the first time for me to try Juice Plus. I threw it in the Vitamix with some leftover fruits and veggies for a healthy breakfast. I love that it was so filling! Robert loved it too.
Shannon sent me some face wipes from Ever, a skin care company from the creators of Stella and Dot. I love myself some easy face wipes. They left my skin feeling so smooth and they lasted a while because I used both sides, a wonderful frugal tip that Shannon taught me.
These samples helped keep costs down this month because I didn’t have to buy face care products.
Even without the samples, I’ve done really well this week. We will be out of town soon so I haven’t had to buy all my usual stuff at the store. Here is what I spent this week:
Target: $66.04 (mostly stuff to get Robert entertained on the plane ride)
Farmers Market $12
TJMaxx: $121.88 for new luggage
Total: $84.42 for normal spending, $207.30 including the luggage
We recently threw away our last set of luggage. They were ripped up and didn’t wheel properly anymore. We got a great deal on luggage at TJMaxx and I can’t wait to see how much easier it will be to fly with it.
How did you do this week on your budget? Over? Under? Let me know! I’d love to celebrate your victories.
