Every Friday I recount the food I wasted during the week. I link up with The Frugal Girl for Food Waste Friday and Simply Being Mum. I’ve been environmentally conscious about food waste since I was in college and this is a great way for me to keep tabs on what we waste in our house.
1.
threw away waffle bowls!
This made me sad. I love waffle cone bowls for my ice cream. Early on in my pregnancy I was craving lots of ice cream and NEEDED these bowls. Now that I’m not craving ice cream I haven’t had a chance to eat these recently and they’ve gone stale. I tried to pawn them off on Robert, but he wasn’t interested.
2.
food swaps
I cleaned out the pantry and sent several unopened food items with Tom to his office. I figured someone would be able to eat the food that we didn’t want.
We had a ton of clemintines at our house and I was able to send those home with a few moms from our play date group. It was nice to get rid of those before they went bad. I also was able to get some celery from my friend Yolona who didn’t need all of them. I like being able to swap food with friends instead of throwing it away when it goes bad.
3.
every last bit
Tom had a rotisserie chicken for lunch this week and I was able to clean off those bones and use the not so pretty meat in a white chicken chili. I like being able to use every last bit of our chicken on the bone by making soup or broth.
How did you do this week? Please share!
