A few weeks ago I ran out of plastic zip top bags. I am so cheap that I won’t buy them unless I have a coupon. Things have been so busy that I haven’t been couponing as much as I like, so I have been without plastic zip top bags for almost a month now!
At first it felt strange not having the bags around the house, but after a while I started to wonder why I ever felt the urge to buy them in the first place. They aren’t meant to be reusable (doesn’t mean I haven’t done it), they can’t be recycled and they cost a good bit.
Since then I have been using my Pyrex glass containers.
I have been using them for everything: frozen fruit, veggies, even taco shells in my pantry.
I think this is a revolution. No more bags for me! Not only does this save me money, but I feel like I am being environmentally friendly too.
I really like the glass containers for storing a variety of foods – they wash up well!
I recently bought a few different sizes of sturdy plastic containers at Marshall’s – good for packing my lunch!
