Entertaining can come with a certain level of stress. Is your home clean enough? Big enough? Have you invited the right mix of friends? Are you serving the right Pinterest perfect recipes?

If you think about it too much you’ll endlessly stress out over those questions. I’ve been there. I know! I even had this conversation with a friend the other day. She loves to entertain but doesn’t do it enough because she’s nervous about the little things.

Here’s the secret to entertaining: combine good food and good people, and you can’t go wrong.

I recently hosted a group of friends to celebrate Jackson’s last day of preschool. I wanted to cancel for many reasons, mostly due to the fact that our house is crazy right now, and I don’t have a lot of time to put together Pinterest perfect parties.

But if I’ve learned anything through this blogging journey, I’ve learned that Pinterest perfect and Instagram worthy lives aren’t real. Neither are the parties!

So I did what I do best- found a way to simplify. I simplified by keeping our lunch menu simple with fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s not hard to do that this time of year since Fresh From Florida produce is so delicious right now.

Fresh corn and watermelon now in season in Florida and they are perfect for summer entertaining!

For this little get together I went full into full summer mode with fresh produce and served watermelon and sweet corn.

Fresh produce- watermelon and corn

I kept the watermelon simple by slicing it into handheld pieces, and made the corn into a corn salsa. Recipe coming soon!

Entertaining is easy with fresh produce

Too often I fall into the trap of thinking I need to create Pinterest worthy recipes for every get together I have.

Not true!

The beauty of fresh produce is that you don’t have to do much to it in order to have flavorful food. Fresh, local produce is already flavorful because it’s picked at the perfect time for peak ripeness.

As a bonus, fresh produce like Fresh From Florida produce is usually more cost effective because it’s local. Florida farmers make it easy to eat fresh produce year-round. Local foods don’t have to be shipped, which means there is no shipping cost, which in turn keeps prices low.

Can’t beat that, right?

Fresh From Florida tomatoes, blueberries, bell peppers, mangoes, and star fruit are also in season in Florida!

Look for food, produce, and seafood labeled Fresh From Florida. Here is what the label looks like in order to tell if you are eating fresh food grown and caught in Florida.

What local produce do you love to serve during the summer?

Totally agree. Fancy schamsy is overrated when entertaining. The simpler the better and yes to Fresh From Florida fruit/veggies, etc. :-)
