I love a good cup of hot chocolate during the holidays. Who doesn’t, right? The only problem is that here in Southwest Florida, it is really hot. That’s why I’m a big fan of this hot chocolate milkshake!
My little brother is my partner in crime when it comes to testing new hot chocolate recipes. He’s the one who helped me perfect my concentrated hot chocolate recipe.
Like most middle schoolers, my brother isn’t the biggest fan of eating fruits and vegetables. I’m pretty sure he could live off of Hot Pockets and Dunkin Donuts if we let him! When Mom’s Meet asked if I would incorporate MegaFood Kids Nutrient Booster Powders into a recipe, I knew I’d have to whip up something special for my little brother.
He came over one afternoon and helped me come up with this hot chocolate milkshake recipe. It uses the same condensed hot chocolate sauce that we use in our regular hot chocolate, but has the added benefit of dates and MegaFood.
Check out this super easy hot chocolate milkshake recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 C. condensed hot chocolate sauce
- 1 C. ice
- 1/2 C. milk (or water)
- 6 dates
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in a blender and blend. Enjoy!

I’ll admit that Charlie didn’t enjoy the dates. He said they tasted grainy. This recipe doesn’t even need the dates, but I thought it would be an added benefit. Feel free to omit it for a more chocolatey flavor!

Are you a hot chocolate lover like me?
What could be better?! I love hot cocoa so it only makes sick to carry it over to cold! Right!?!
Glad you friend ed me on twitter… I’ve only glanced at your blog for maybe 2 minutes and I’m already loving it!
I can’t type today. Sorry for typos. My hand is in a splint and it interferes all the time.
I need to remember to proofread… Splint + the phone gets its 2 cents in on what you’re trying to say! Lol!
Thank you!
I totally agree on adding special ‘flavors’, especially for kids. They can be picky, don’t like certain textures or, sometimes, they just don’t want it…. I have 16 month old twin Grandsons and, a lot if the time, it’s all about mood and playtime… They love food but, many times, you have to get it down them quickly because they’re ‘BUSY’. LOL!
Honestly, I have to do the same for myself. I have always been a picky eater. Although I’m better now, I still dislike a lot of foods, yes, usually veggies. And, like my Grandsons, textures bother me.
You’re doing great! Looking forward to more interaction with you.
It can be hard to enjoy the veggies if you aren’t used to them! I get it! I’m looking forward to more interaction too!
What a great way to get kids to fill up on some nutrients. I wonder if it would work with bananas? Going to give it a try. Thanks Hannah
I bet so! I love using frozen bananas in our morning smoothies!
I love this -it’s been a hot summer this year so we need milkshakes more. I really like putting in the fruit for added benefit!
It’s always fun to be a little sneaky!
This sounds really great and so perfect for kids. My little Keira would go crazy for it just because of the chocolate…she’d never have to know that it was healthy too!
love it will save this for next summer when we are wanting bonfires and hot chocolate now here at home we are soon going to be able to enjoy the flavors of fall we all wanted thanks for sharing

My kids beg for hot chocolate at the first sign of cooler weather. To me, 70 degrees is NOT hot chocolate weather. :P So this is the perfect compromise for us!
Right? Except for us 70 degrees is cold. Lol. I’m currently in long sleeves and jeans because 86 degrees feels like fall compared to the 90 degree weather we usually have!
Nice… the vitamin addition is such a great idea! What an easy way to make this shake a little bit healthier :)
My kids love chocolate in any possible way you can use it. From chocolate milk, to ice cream, to cookies, to pancakes…you name it. This recipe sounds like a great contender to add to this endless list!
