Put together an easy Mickey Mouse themed party with these simple tips. Use these ideas to host a Mickey themed birthday party or play date that your little Disney lover will enjoy. Not only will the kids love it, you’ll appreciate how easy it is to put this Mickey themed party together with these party plans.
Disney parks asked me to throw a #DisneyKids preschool play date and of course I said yes! A special thanks to Disney for sponsoring this fun party so I could share all my favorite tips for throwing an easy Mickey Mouse themed party. It was perfect timing because both my boys have birthdays this month. It was a great birthday party theme!
When it comes to parties, I like to make them look elaborate while spending as little time and money on them as possible. I want them to look Pinterest worthy, yet effortless. Here are my tips for putting together an effortless Mickey Mouse themed birthday party that will certainly impress your guests.
1. Use Reusable Decorations
For this party I kept the colors in line with traditional Mickey Mouse colors: red, yellow and black. Then I bought decorations that could be used again throughout the year for other celebrations.
I kept the Mickey theme alive with a few disposable items featuring the famous mouse.
To keep prep simple, I skipped printables when it came to food and opted for chalkboard wrapping paper instead.
2. Simple Party Food Spread
As you can see above, my party food wasn’t elaborate. I did fruit, cookies, pigs in a blanket, brownies, and Mickey munch popcorn.
The Mickey brownies were store bought and then decorated with a black candy melt and black chocolate candies.
The Mickey Munch was super simple with popcorn, pretzels, black candy melts, and chocolate candies in Mickey Mouse colors.
The kids sat outside and ate picnic style on a few tablecloths on the ground. Jackson had to eat with Mickey Mouse.
3. Easy Party Activities
This is where I really share my super secret for throwing an easy Mickey themed or Disney themed party: make the activities as simple as possible. We had a few fun activities throughout that house that were optional for the kids to do during the party.
Hidden Mickey Game
The biggest hit by far was the hidden Mickey game where the kids had to find 8 Mickeys throughout the house. It was such a fun spin on a scavenger hunt.
Sorcerer Mickey Hats
The kids also really loved making Sorcerer Mickey hats out of blue party hats and foam star stickers.
It was so popular that we ran out of stickers!
Photo Booth
The photo booth was the other big hit. We had so much fun setting it up and I had even more fun seeing everyone’s pictures on social media.
The booth was set up with wrapping paper as a background and a fabric banner I picked up from Target for only $2.99!
Once cropped it looked great for Instagram and printed on HP Social Media Snapshots.
Coloring
The kids even enjoyed plain old coloring. I set out a coloring book and crayons and the kids had a blast taking a little break to color. Robert even colored afterwards while I cleaned up the minimal mess from the party.
4. No Fuss Party Favors
A friend of mine asked what she could do to help with the party. Luckily she loves making sweets so I put her to work making our Mickey pops. They are Oreos with mini Oreos for ears and dipped in candy melts. They are super easy to make, but take a lot of time. That’s why I was so happy that she offered to help. They turned out beautifully and all the kids loved them.
I’m ridiculously happy to report that this simple party was a huge success. I’ll be honest, when I was first planning this party I was very overwhelmed. I wanted to make the most of my collaboration with Disney and really wow my readers with an over the top party. Then I remembered that I hate putting a lot of effort into my parties. I’d rather show my readers how easy it is to throw a no fuss Mickey Mouse party that is actually a breeze to put together. This party plan contains no crazy planning, no over the top printables, and no ridiculous party spread.
