I’m thrilled to have this guest post about how to make an extra income as a pet sitter. This is written by Tracy Vicory-Rosenquest, Rover.com community member. Rover is the nation’s largest network of 5-star pet sitters and dog walkers.
How to Make Extra Income as a Pet Sitter
There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to close the gap on paying your monthly expenses when you know you don’t have time for a second job. Wasn’t it simpler when you were a kid and you could walk the neighbor’s dog for extra cash? Guess what?! Rover.com has made the business of pet sitting adult-friendly. It’s not just a kid’s job anymore.
Check out the benefits:
You’re the boss.
With Rover.com, you create a profile detailing what pet care services you provide. Then, set your own pay rate. Review other pet sitter profiles to see what pet owners will pay locally.
You can work as much or as little as you like.
You set your schedule. If you’ve got a full-time job, schedule your availability as a sitter during your time off. If you’re ready to make this your new career, Rover.com provides the resources to build and promote your business.
Your clients love you.
Your clients are dogs and cats, and they know it’s playtime and treats when you arrive. Truly, they’ll love you for it. When your doggie clients love you, their owners do too. When you make the owners happy, you create loyal customers who will also spread the word about you to their friends.
You’re paid to play.
It’s not complicated work. Feed the cat and take the dog to the park to play fetch. No need to feel guilty that you haven’t been to the gym in a month. This job will keep you on your toes.
Rover.com makes it easy to get started. Once you complete your sitter profile, a team of experts will review it. As soon as you’re approved, you’re officially open for business. To learn more or to join the Rover community of pet sitters, visit us online!

My sister just signed up for Rover and she’s having a blast! It’s a thought that I’d never had. I moved to a foreign country and I’ve been looking for ways to earn some cash, I am not fluent in the language yet to getting a job (even though I have the right visa for one) has proven to be really difficult…but dogs don’t speak foreign languages!!! Maybe I should see if there is something like Rover available where I live!
My sister has been raving about it and this is a super informational post … thanks for the encouragement! I will definitely look into it in my area!
Awesome! I am so glad that it is working out!
