How to make a gallery wall on a budget with Goodwill frames

I can’t think of a better way to display family photos than in a gallery wall. The first project I took on when we moved into our house was to put together this gallery wall on a budget by using old frames from Goodwill. We lived in a tiny apartment for almost 2 years and never hung up any new photographs. I don’t ever want that to happen again. I’m hoping this gallery wall will evolve and expand with new photographs over the years, especially now that we’ve decided to use a real photographer for family portraits.

Budget gallery wall

The wall came together pretty easily. I used 7 frames from Goodwill and 5 from Target. Four of the ones from Target were $2 each, and the one in the middle was the big splurge at 20 bucks.

I set Robert up with some paint while I spray painted the frames outside.

Not bad for less than $30 right?

I can’t tell you how happy this wall makes me. I love walking into the house and immediately seeing pictures of my loved ones.

Goodwill frames for a gallery photo wall

The only problem is now I have a bit of an obsession with Goodwill frames. I can’t go into a thrift store without checking out their frame situation. There are some pretty good finds most of the time. Recently, though, I found one for $50. I even had to ask the cashier if the price was correct. It was. I won’t be buying $50 frames from Goodwill any time soon! It’s still worth it to look through the selections though. You never know what goodies you can find there. I contemplated calling this post “popping tags for your gallery wall” until I realized the SEO might not do too well.

How do you display your family photos? Do you have a gallery wall too?

I love the look of this! The color makes all of the frames match, but it’s visually interesting because each frame is different. Not bad at all for $30!

Thanks! I love how easy it was to spray paint them the same color.

Haha popping tags! We are getting our place in order and one of the most important things to me is getting the family pictures up in the hallway. You are right, it makes such a difference and it’s such a wonderful thing to see every day. I am definitely going to check the frame situation next time I’m at the thrift store. Such a great idea!

What a lovely idea! I love that all the frames are different but perfectly complement each other. Thank you so much for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party! Pinned!
