Life with a potty training toddler and a ready-to-be sleep trained/ teething infant
sucks is very hectic.
Side note: I know I’m lucky to have such amazing kids, but the fact of the matter is that I’m tired. All the time. When I’m not tired, I’m hopped up on caffeine, and feel like I’m going to have a heart attack. There is no happy medium.
Mornings tend to be the most hectic for us. Somehow, even if we wake up at 5:30, we still can’t manage to get breakfast on the table until 7:45 ish. I can’t tell you what happens between 5:30 and 7:45. I think a lot of diaper changes and potty attempts go on while I’m trying to hook up a caffeine IV.
My poor husband is the one who suffers the most. He had a charmed life before the kids arrived. Before babies left me in a constant state of sleep deprivation, I was a morning person, and would wake up well before Tom to make espressos and fix a healthy breakfast. I’d bring him his espresso in bed and we’d move to the breakfast room to have a leisurely breakfast. Every. Single. Morning.
Enter kids, and that hasn’t happened again. Not even once.
We attempt to have a family breakfast every morning. Lately that has been almost impossible. Between nursing Jackson, and Robert’s poops, we end up playing musical chairs around the breakfast table. Somehow that means that Tom ends up going to work with nothing more than a banana in his belly on some mornings. I realize that this is only a season of our lives. One day I will have time to make everyone a hot breakfast again, until then, I needed an easy alternative for Tom.
Now he has a box of Nature Valley Bistro Cups in his office kitchen. He can walk into work, brew a cup/ bowl of oatmeal, and immediately get to work. As a busy attorney, he sometimes works through meals. I’m happy to know that he has a great breakfast, or even lunch, that is available to him at any time during the day.
I love that he can even enjoy this at his desk!
We tested out the brown sugar pecan flavor because we are big pecan fans. I even added some of my homemade granola on top. We always like a little extra crunch! They also make an apple cinnamon almond flavor that I’m going to try out next.
Because I want you to experience the magic of brewing oatmeal in your coffee maker, I’m sharing this $3 off coupon for you to buy Nature Valley Bistro Cups at Publix this week. This isn’t the cheapest oatmeal, in fact, they are pretty pricey at $5.99 for three. But with the $3 off coupon, you can totally justify it! Especially to have on hand for breakfast emergencies when you can’t even be bothered to heat up hot water. I’ve been there! Oatmeal doesn’t seem like a hard thing to make until you start juggling a couple kids, right?
