Remember when I won a Vitamix for this recipe?

Baked blueberry crossaint french toast

I finally got it. It only took 6 months! I had to follow up with the company and remind them that I won it. Thank goodness I did. I wonder if they would have ever sent it if I hadn’t reminded them. By the way, did I ever tell y’all I won $300 to William’s Sonoma for this Instagram picture?

Afternoon picnics are always best with wine! 🍷 We have the perfect spot for picnics in our new house. I can’t wait to do many more of these over the years! Thank you @vocalpoint for the awesome #mirassou wine tasting kit. I could get used to wine reviews! #mirassousun #winetasting

I’m all about some contests lately! I’m feeling pretty lucky.

Okay, back to food waste.

vitamix foodwastefriday

The Vitamix has completely changed the way I do Food Waste Friday. I’m able to put all sorts of food in here that could have been wasted. Robert has been loving some broccoli stalks in his “juice” lately. He loves it.

That being said, I still wasted a lot this week. Here’s everything I threw away.

With a $170 grocery bill this week, I haven’t wanted to waste a thing. I wasn’t too happy to throw all of this out.

How did you do this week?

That french toast casserole looks like heaven…I’m going to have to make it this weekend!

Food waste in our house this week was rough. A flu/head cold bug hit us all so we didn’t get to plan a menu, and we didn’t eat enough to incorporate leftovers into our meals.

We ended up composting some blueberries, a few bell peppers that we past saving, and some left over spaghetti casserole.

I did have a save though! I used up some slightly bruised apples and made some crockpot applesauce!

      Great save!

Illnesses are always bad for food waste in our house. Then for a few days afterwards I’m always afraid of food borne illness, so I end up tossing a lot. I hope you all feel better soon!

While I love saving money, I also have expensive taste and a passion for the environment. I firmly believe that you can live frugally while enjoying the finer things in life such as travel and high end products. I like fine foods and quality ingredients, I also enjoy spending money on fancy local coffee and kombucha. It’s all about the experience! Join me as I balance a budget and preserve our Earth, while enjoying the finer things in life.
