As much as I love eating in fancy restaurants, I also really enjoy the comfort of restaurants like Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Eating at Applebee’s takes me back to my days of teaching when all the teachers would want to get together after work for an affordable place to eat and drink.
While I’m no longer getting together for teacher happy hours, I do still frequent Applebee’s. Even though we live in a town with incredible locally owned restaurants with all sorts of different cuisines, sometimes I crave the comfort of the Classic Appetizer Combo and the Triple Chocolate Meltdown. Seriously, where else can you get a chocolate fudge filled cake with a side of ice cream for less than $7?

New Menu Items at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar
Tom and I were recently invited to checkout the newest menu change that added some new item while still highlighting the same neighborhood feel guests know and love.
Here are a few of the newest additions to the menu:
- Grilled Shrimp Skewer and additional Bigger, Bolder Grill Combos
- Brisket Quesadilla – Warm, grilled tortillas, loaded with shredded beef brisket, fresh pico and a blend of melted Cheddar cheeses and served with green chile sauce and chipotle lime salsa
- Riblet Platters – Applebee’s famous slow cooked riblets, slathered in your choice of sauce, served with slaw and fries
We started with the chicken wonton tacos. Oh my, they were so good! They are made up of tangy grilled chicken, sweet Asian chile sauce and dumpling sauce stuffed into crispy wonton shells and topped with a crunchy slaw and cilantro mix.
I guess I was in an Asian mood because I continued the trend by ordering the Thai shrimp salad. Seasoned, grilled shrimp atop fresh Asian greens and edamame. Topped with almonds, crispy wonton strips and a drizzle of Thai peanut sauce with our own chile lime vinaigrette.
Tom had to get the new grill combo, of course! He’s a big fan of ribs, and any time he can get ribs with a side of steak, he’s a happy man. His bigger, bolder combo consisted of grilled USDA Select top sirloin with a half rack of baby back ribs (choice of Spicy Texas BBQ or Honey BBQ sauce) served with steamed broccoli, garlic mashed potatoes, signature coleslaw and onion tanglers.
We had to finish the meal with the triple chocolate meltdown because I’m a huge chocolate fan. I literally cannot go to Applebees without ordering this dessert!
