I was hosted for my review of Metro Diner, however all opinions are my own.
I’m loving that Metro Diner has opened up in Bonita Springs. As a foodie without a ton of money, I’m always in search of delicious and affordable places to eat in SWFL. Metro Diner definitely fits that description.
I first fell in love with Metro Diner when I visited the original location in Jacksonville. Then we were super excited when the Naples location opened. As you can tell, we are very happy to have a Bonita Springs option too. This location is on the same road as my father in law and brother in law! We all met up for a family breakfast this past weekend (including Tom’s uncle and aunt).
It’s really nice to have a breakfast option where kid’s meals are reasonably priced. These meals only cost $3.99. That’s a steal for SWFL dining.
Jackson loved his pancakes too! Both boys cleaned their plates. Can you blame them?
What to love about Metro Diner
The Prices
Hands downs, the prices are the best thing about Metro Diner. You can get sandwiches for less than $6 while some of the more expensive dishes go up to $16. It’s possible to enjoy a delicious and reasonably priced meal here. In fact, we fed a family of 6 adults and 2 kids for $75!
The Food
The food here actually tastes good as opposed to many of the restaurants in this area that serve as tourist traps for the snow birds. Everything we’ve tried on the menu has been absolutely delicious. I think I’ve had almost everything on the menu now and I can’t pick a favorite- it’s all that good! From eggs benedict to pancakes, I’ve loved it all.
Menu Favorites
Okay, okay, I know I just said I don’t have a favorite on the menu, but I do have a few that I continuously pick over the rest of the menu. If you go you have to make sure that someone from your party gets one of the following.
Charleston Shrimp and Grits
I can’t say that these are the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had, but this is the best I’ve had in SWFL. You can take a girl out of the south, but you can’t make her stop craving shrimp and grits. Since I can’t make weekly visits to the true south, these shrimp and grits will work just fine.
You should know that this is made with grit cakes, not grits. It’s a bit different, but the flavor is all there. I like how the gravy is more of a breakfast gravy. The bacon and sausage in the gravy make the dish. And the shrimp- amazing. It’s surprisingly hard to get good affordable here. I’m still impressed that the shrimp are so fresh.
Chicken and Waffles
This is a classic. I don’t even know if I can say much more other than the fact that there are some places in SWFL that serve chicken and waffles for double the price. Skip the fine dining and eat these instead.
The dish comes with strawberry butter and a hot sauce syrup. Yum! I could eat the hot sauce syrup by itself. No joke.
Biscuits & Gravy
I ordered a whole order once and learned my lesson. You really only need a half portion of this dish even if you are pregnant and like to eat. And by eat, I mean eat a whole lot.
The meal comes with eggs and hash browns! Seriously, a side order of biscuits and gravy is enough to keep you happy for a very long time.
What you should know about Metro Diner in Bonita Springs
The portions are huge
It’s okay to split a dish or ask for a half order. Most of the waitresses realize that the portions are big and they will help you make the best decisions. For example, this is one blueberry pancake!
The location is easy to miss
Located in the new busy Publix shopping center on Bonita Beach Road, it is easy to miss the location. If you turn in from Bonita Beach Road, make sure to turn right in the parking lot because it is located separately from the rest of the shopping center.
Overall
Obviously you can tell that I love Metro Diner. I’ll keep going back and I’ll keep suggesting it to friends. If you are in SWFL, you have got to check it out!
