Good morning! I’m officially on island time.
It’s a great morning for me because I got to walk the beach and see this rainy, yet still gorgeous, sunrise. Coffee + beach = one happy Hannah.
I hate that it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve done a weekly budget post. I had every intention of putting one together for today, but it just didn’t happen. Between the kids and other obligations this week, I didn’t have the time to look through our bank and credit card statements. I can tell you that I spent a lot on food and I don’t feel guilty for going over budget. Read this post to see why.
I also didn’t have the time because I’m too busy getting some rest and relaxation at the Marco Island Marriott this weekend.
That’s right, Tom and I are kid free for a couple of nights. To make it even better, it’s a work related trip for Tom so we aren’t even spending that much money. This is my type of vacation! Tom has been gone for meetings so I get to have some “me time”.
You know me. Food is always my favorite part of vacation. We ate the most amazing food last night at one of the events put on by Tom’s firm. I can’t stop thinking about these butternut squash crostinis. I’m going to have to recreate this at home!
Even though I’m pretty much responsibility free this weekend, I had a hard time unwinding and relaxing yesterday. Years ago, I read a blog post by a professional blogger who freaked out over missing a day of blogging, even on vacation.
I remember thinking she was too tightly wound. I didn’t understand the point of owning your own business if you couldn’t take off a few days here and there.
Yesterday I found myself thinking back to that blogger because I was freaking out that I didn’t have a blog post prepared for today. I seriously thought I was going to have a mini panic attack over not being prepared. I’ve been so focused on handling the business side of blogging as well as launching a new website (more on that later) that I’ve haven’t had a lot of time to focus on the actual blogging part lately.
Then it hit me. If I’m freaking out over such a small thing as one budget blog post, then I desperately need a vacation. That’s when I joined my friend for this beach side beer. Not a bad Thursday afternoon view, right?
So, today you can find me lounging around with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I’m going to unwind and relax. It’s so rare to be able to do anything without kids that I need to enjoy this day without responsibilities or I’ll regret it!
Happy weekend! I hope you are able to relax this weekend too. You deserve it!
You need and deserve it! ENJOY your kids free weekend!!!
Relax! Think about what you’d tell your best friend. You’d probably yell at her for even thinking about work while on a vacation. So enjoy!
Yes! You are so right. Thank you!
