Before I had kids my snacks were planned out and healthy. I enjoyed making delicious snacks that I could eat during a break from work. Now that I’m a little busier, I barely have time to make real meals, forget snacks! That’s why I recently started planning out a healthy grab-and-go snack to toss in my purse.
Like most moms, I always pack my kids healthy snacks when we are out and about. My purse is always filled with various fruit and kid snacks, but I rarely remember to pack a snack for myself other than an apple or a banana. This usually results in me making bad food decisions when we are out and about. I’ll end up running through a drive through for a cup of coffee which just leaves me over caffeinated and still hungry.
Since I already packed an apple, banana and orange in my purse everyday, it wasn’t hard to get in the habit of putting a grab-and-go snack in my purse. I knew I needed to add some protein to my fruit heavy snacks. That’s why I decided to put Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbecue Beef steak strips into my bento box. When paired with trail mix it makes the perfect grab-and-go snack.
Now when we end up spending more time running errands than I anticipate, I have a well balanced snack ready to go in my purse. You have no idea how many times this has saved me from wasting money (and calories) on fast food. Speaking of money, Lorissa’s Kitchen is giving you a chance to win a $100 Walmart gift card. Here are my tips for packing a healthy grab-and-go snack for all you busy women. Moms aren’t the only ones who are busy and on the go. These tips are good for anyone who needs an easy portable snack- I even offered to let my husband borrow my bento box!
First things first, make sure you pack some protein in your grab-and-go snack. I picked up Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbecue Beef at Walmart. You can also pick up the other two flavors: Lorissa’s Kitchen Sweet Chili Pork and Lorissa’s Kitchen Szechuan Peppercorn Beef. Find them in the check out lanes.
Next, add in some trail mix and portable fruits such as apples, bananas, or clementines and you’re all set.
I love this cute little snack pack I bought. It’s the perfect size for half a bag of Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbecue Beef and half a cup of trail mix.
Toss it in your purse before bed and your set for a busy day when you wake up. I grab a stainless steel water bottle from the fridge before we head out for the day. Here in Southwest Florida it’s already in the 90’s. I have to stay hydrated!
Even though I’m partial to Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbecue Beef, the other flavors are delicious too! I’ve already gone through 6 bags in the last couple of weeks. I love that I get a good punch of protein without MSG, preservatives, and added growth hormones. I also love that Lorissa’s Kitchen is committed to working with farmers who are concerned with animal well-being. It’s a portable farm to table snack!
