I did a crazy thing. I gave up sweets for Lent. Thankfully, I have this peanut butter and banana smoothie bowl to help curb my cravings!
Before having kids, I never craved sweets. I was the type of person who would get a box of chocolates and eat them over the span of several weeks, even months. I prided myself on never eating dessert. Sweets were never something I wanted.
Then I got pregnant with my first son. All I ever wanted was sweets. Skittles and cinnamon rolls were on the top of my cravings list. I recovered a bit in between pregnancies, but having the boys only 2 years apart means that I’ve spent the last 3 years eating more sweets than I had in the 27 years before that.
We’re only 12 days into Lent, and I’m already feeling healthier having less sweets. While I haven’t been 100% successful, I’ve only slipped up once (okay twice, but it was in one day)! I’m pretty proud of myself. One way I’m dealing with giving up sweets is by replacing my normal nap time sweet snack with a healthier snack. This peanut butter and banana smoothie bowl is one of my new favorites.

I love how the Nature Valley Honey Oat Clusters stayed crunchy in this smoothie bowl. I also enjoyed how easy it was to share with my boys when they woke up early from their naps. It’s nice to be able to share my sweet treats with them instead of hiding so they don’t see me eat too many sweets.

- 2 bananas
- 1/2 C. Greek yogurt
- 1/4 C. almond milk
- 2 tbsp. peanut butter
- 1/4 C. Nature Valley Honey Oat Clusters
- 1 tbsp. chia seeds
- Blend 1 banana, Greek yogurt, almond milk, and peanut butter until smooth.
- Top with sliced banana, Nature Valley cereal, and chia seeds.
