Dinner and a movie

Looking for an inexpensive and easy Valentine’s date night idea? Dinner and a movie at home is the best way to go.

Tom and I have gone this route for the last 9 years. Valentine’s Day is special to us because it’s our dating anniversary. Since we hate fighting crowds at restaurants on Valentine’s Day, we usually reenact our first date which was no other than dinner and a movie.

Celebrate Valentine's Day at home with a Valentine's date night. This is an easy Valentine's Date night idea to enjoy dinner and a movie at home

To make it easy for you to plan your own dinner and a movie date night, I’ve teamed up with Wayfair to give you my best tips.

Tip for a Valentine’s date night dinner and a movie at home

Order dinner

I usually recommend cooking dinner to save money, but for Valentine’s day we always pull out the big guns and order in sushi. It’s a treat for us and it makes dinner and a movie at home so much easier. Order in something that feels like a treat for you too!

Pick up some quality wine

You could easily replace wine with your favorite drink of choice. No matter what, make sure you have a little something special to celebrate.

Cuddle up

Pick a comfy blanket for you to cuddle up to your loved one. I recently ordered this one from Wayfair. It’s perfect for movie night!

Don’t watch a romantic movie just because it’s Valentine’s Day

I’ve made this mistake too many times! It’s best to watch a movie you actually want to see. I can’t tell you how many times Tom and I have tried to make it through a bad romanic movie just to feel festive. We are much happier sticking to thrillers or sci-fi.

Make sure you have plenty of popcorn

You can never have enough popcorn, right?

Want to do this yourself? Here’s everything you need to set up your own Valentine’s date night dinner and a movie.
