How We Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend on a Budget

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Can you believe half the year is over already? I feel like we just celebrated Christmas and here we are already celebrating the unofficial start to summer.

Wayfair invited me to share my Memorial Day plans with you so I’m going to share how we celebrate on a budget. Here are my favorite tips to celebrate Memorial Day on a budget.

Potluck

We almost always participate in a potluck on Memorial Day. It’s a great way to keep the cost of food low and get together with friends and family.

This year we will be getting together with family on Saturday and friends on Sunday.

I’ll be taking BBQ pulled pork to the potluck with friends. Get the easy recipe here.

Keep Decor Simple

My favorite thing about summer is that it’s easy to get away with red, white and blue decor all season long. I do just that! I keep up my patriotic decor from Memorial Day to Labor Day. When it comes to tablescapes, I like to keep a traditional summer BBQ vibe with red and white checks and red and blue mixed in to the decor. I still love this tablescape from our BBQ last year.

Oddly enough, I don’t have any pictures of my patriotic decor in the house (I smell a blog post brewing). I’m a big fan of banners and lights because I can keep those up all season long and not have to dust them. I hate dusting small knick-knacks. Isn’t that the worst?

Anyway, here is an idea of my favorite kind of patriotic decor that’s on sale at Wayfair right now! I’m loving these lights.

Make a signature drink

Let’s be honest, Memorial Day is a big drinking holiday. Save money by making a signature drink at a get together instead of opting for a full bar. I’m loving wine based patriotic drinks. The patriotic popsicles in champagne is super fun!

I also really enjoyed this Star Spangled Sangria a few years ago.

I’m a fan of this pitcher from Wayfair for future summer get togethers.

How will you be celebrating Memorial Day this weekend? Don’t forget to check out all the Memorial Day sales going on at Wayfair. I’ll be ordering a few things myself!

I, too, will be attending a potluck with friends. Weird!
