TGIT! I’m sad that HTGAWM is over for now, but I’m excited for Scandal and Grey’s tonight. Best TV night of the week. I’m feeling less and less thrifty each week for these Thrifty Thursday round ups. Even so, I managed to do a few thrifty things this week.
$5 Mom’s Morning Out + FREE Starbucks: You know I’ve been trying to cut back on my Starbucks trips this year. So far, I’ve been able to limit it to meetings and play dates and I’ve avoided going by myself. I’ve had my free reward waiting to be redeemed since Christmas! I’d been waiting for a day where I really needed Starbucks and luckily I saved it for just the right day, my first ever mom’s morning out!
I knew I’d be a little stressed and sad about leaving Robert for 5 hours so I went to Starbucks, redeemed my freebie and bought a donut because I needed a little treat. I was also able to use my gold card to get a free refill before I left. Score! Two free drinks! The mom’s morning out is a fabulous deal. Twice a month our YMCA has a program where members can sign up for a 5 hour MMO for only $5! It’s a crazy good deal. I love our YMCA so much and this makes it even better.
No more buying sweets at the grocery store: I can’t believe I’m staying strong with this one! This is maybe the 3rd week in a row that I’ve not bought any cookies or other sweets for snacking. I’m still spending money on flour, sugar, eggs and oil to make sweets when I crave them. This is proving to save us a lot of money and I hope it is making us healthier. I didn’t even buy a candy bar at Trader Joe’s this week! However, we did go over budget at TJ’s because we were out of everything from being under budget last week. Whoops. And I also caved and bought 2 donuts for me and Robert on Wednesday since I knew we had zero sweets at home. Hopefully I get in a better habit of not buying donuts once the pregnancy cravings subside.
Free fun: We are trying to get out of the house and do as many free things as possible. Thankfully the weather is beautiful here in the mornings and the beach is perfect.

I’m trying to take advantage of the weather while it is still cool. Pretty soon it will be too hot for us to do the beach unless we go really early.
Extra $100: Okay, I didn’t actually get an extra $100, but Dollar Shave Club is doing a fun campaign and wants to know what you would do with an extra $100. Since their razors start at only $3 a month, the average saving add up to $100 a year. You know what I’d do with it, pay off loans!
Now I want to know what you would do with an extra $100 a year.
Would you buy $100 in lottery tickets?
Have a nice night out?
Save it?
Let me know in the comments! I’m always interested to know what my readers would do with extra money.
How did you do this week? Have you been thrifty?
Our first grocery trip after our $200 grocery month definitely included a pack of peanut M&Ms, I missed candy bars!
If I had $100 to blow? Probably pay a sitter to get some Mom’s Mornings Out!
