What a week it’s been. I’m exhausted just thinking of everything we’ve done in the last week. I don’t even know where to start, but I know I have to start somewhere.
I’ll start with Aldi (nope, not a sponsored post, I’m just in love).
Y’all, I’m so excited about the new Aldi in Naples. I finally have a cheap option for groceries other than Trader Joe’s. Yes, I’m aware they are owned by the same company, but still, I’m excited!
I guess you can tell from all those exclamation marks, right? Seriously though, they have such a great selection of everything from flowers…
…to organic produce…
…to cheese. I may have gone over budget buying all the things.
Here’s an update on my travel writing.
Just a week ago I was in Amelia Island at the Omni Resort for my first ever Travel Media Showcase family travel conference. Here’s a shot from the hotel.
People keep asking me about my travel writing. Here’s the background story: about 7 years ago, Tom asked me what I would do if I could do anything I wanted for a living. I told him I wanted to become a food and travel writer. He told me to do it. I laughed because I didn’t think I’d ever be able to break into the niche.
Years later and I’m finally dipping my toes into the travel writing niche. As many of you know I’ve been writing with Traveling Mom, as the Fabulously Frugal TravelingMom, for a couple of months. I’ll continue to highlight my personal travels here, but I’ll give more details in my Traveling Mom posts.
So far, I’m loving the world of travel writing. We had a blast touring Jacksonville, and I already have another press trip booked for Daytona Beach. I can’t wait to share all my budget friendly travel tips with you. I promise it is possible to travel without breaking the bank.
I’m also hoping to use my travel writing experience to highlight all the budget friendly things we have to do in Naples, FL. I’m already showcasing some of my favorite things to do on this Facebook page and this Instagram account. I’d love some more followers!
I’m not sure if you’ve been following along, but I have two giveaways going on right now!

- I threw out the very end of some Thai curry. It was delicious, but we had left it in the fridge while we were out of town for a week. Should have eaten it sooner, right?
How did you do this week with budget and food waste?
